A Simple Life is a Happy Life

Are you truly happy in your life? If you are not or want a happier life, you may find the ideas below inspiring, uplifting, and useful. You can think and live differently to have more happiness.

A simple life is a happy life. Back to the basics and live simply to appreciate who you are and what you have.

Back to Basics

We know every human has basic human needs that must be satisfied. They are physical needs (water, food, clothing, shelter, rest) and other needs consisting of financial or job security, safety, love, relationships, health, growth, and life purpose. In a simple life, you focus on meeting these basic human needs in a simple way. This focus can bring you a true, happy life without having or pursuing other worldly things.

If you already have your physical needs met, as well as necessary financial security and safety, spend more time loving yourself who never leaves you, always loves you, and attends to your best interests.

Love yourself not by indulging, but by giving yourself high regard, doing things you really enjoy, and taking care of your body, mind, and spirit. Praise, thank, advice, forgive, talk to, and entertain yourself in love and joy. When you learn and know how to love yourself, you learn how to expand love to the people you care about and other beings.

Spend quality time with your family and friends, especially in uplifting, intimate conversations. Treasure, honor, and encourage each other. A life full of loving relationships is a happy life.

Make the best use of your time daily to get the most out of life. Choose a regular but flexible routine to care for your own or your family’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. A morning routine can give you a great start each day.

Eat simple, easy to prepare, and nutritious meals, best with natural, organic, whole food. Drink lots of clean water daily. Practice Intermittent fasting consistently to promote better health. It is simple, beneficial, and especially effective for weight loss or maintaining an ideal weight.

Intermittent fasting means eating according to a set schedule. Many people eat only within the same 8 to 12 hours daily. For instance, eat only from 10am to 6pm or from 7am to 7pm and fast the rest of the day. Health benefits should come quicker with longer fasting hours. Drink plenty of water during the day and when fasting. Try it to see if it works for you.

Keep fit by regularly doing exercise you like or physical labor work. Walk or jog outside is easy, healthy, and free. Go outdoors to enjoy and connect with nature. Get some sun, breathe fresh air, smell a flower, hug a tree, do gardening, etc. We are meant to spend time outside. Nature is created for our nourishment and enjoyment. It is almost all for free.

Admire all beauties and vibrant lives around you. Take a look at the lovely videos and photos of nature and laughter we have for you on this website. Also enjoy some beautiful songs to cheer you up.

Do creative activities to bring you happiness. Write, dance, paint, cook, compose music, or do anything you can dream of creating. Sing and listen to music for fun and relaxation. Take short rests during the day and get enough good sleep at night.

Feel the joy in all the work you do. If your current job is a drag, change your attitude. Recognize your service to people and society in your work. Remind yourself often of your worth and contribution. Be thankful you have a job you need. Find the good in everyone and everything you work with. Do your best to love them. This new mindset helps you like your work more.

Desire and own fewer material things. Try to live a minimalist lifestyle. It allows you to save more money and time with less upkeep of things. It enables you to make changes for a better future, such as changing to a new job you truly enjoy. Happiness from material things is temporary. Joy from nonmaterial things lasts forever.

Slow Down

Modern day life puts great emphasis on productivity and multitasking for achieving success. Many people rush and hurry to get as much done in a day at the expense of their health, peace, and joy in life.

Slow down to value life as it is. As you slow down to do your daily activities, you feel more relaxed, less stressful, and less anxious. When you hurry, you miss many precious, interesting, small, joyful things in your everyday experience. Slowing down allows you to notice the beauty, essence, goodness, and the true nature of each experience and feeling you have.

When you eat, chew slowly and savor the taste, smell, texture of each bite of the food. You sense something new and enjoy your food more. You are also more aware of how your body feels. Stop eating when feeling satisfied and not completely full. Don’t overeat or under-eat to improve your digestive health. In time, you may discover you like food you didn’t like before, especially natural and wholesome food. You become healthier.

Do you tend to rush to complete your daily tasks? Have you often hurt yourself with cuts, bruises, scrapes, or scalds from doing tasks quickly and mindlessly? I do. I have. Consciously slowing down avoids the “accident” of bodily hurt. It makes you appreciate each moment of your life and its purpose. Even household chores like cleaning toilets become meaningful and enjoyable.

Slow down daily to feel the invigorating or relaxing sensation of the water splashing all over your body in a shower or of a good soak in a bath. Enjoy the pleasant moment as you feel the life-enhancing essence and energy of the amazing water.

Meditate often during your day, even for a few minutes each time. If you haven’t done it before, meditation is simply a quiet time for yourself, giving your mind a rest. It doesn’t require a specific posture or advanced technique. You may sit or lie down, whichever is more comfortable. Just be aware of your natural breathing. Control your breathing rate if it helps. Let go of all thoughts. Your body loves and needs it. You feel relaxed, refreshed, rejuvenated after this short rest, especially during a busy day.

Prioritize your time and only do things that are joyful, important, and meaningful to you. Quality, not quantity, of life is always more precious.

Slowing down doesn’t mean doing things as slowly as possible. It means doing things at the right “slow” speed for you. That is the speed when you feel no stress at all while doing a task. Your body knows what is best for you. Learn from your body. Try and find it out for yourself.

When people slow down in life, some of them may feel less stress and therefore less tired, and have more energy to get more things done during their days. Others may find it hard to do as many tasks as before. It is fine because that is what a simple life is — back to basics. Focus on work and caring for your family’s physical and emotional needs. In time you will reach more of what you want in life.

Your life is made up of each and all of your present moments. The past is gone and the future is always uncertain. Only the present moment can be controlled, felt, lived, and experienced by you. It requires your conscious awareness of what you are doing in each moment to feel its quality and goodness. Enjoy life to the fullest extent by always living in the now moments.

You are a powerful being. Whatever your life experiences in the past were, you have the power to create any life you envision starting this moment. Believe and you can do it.

Be Positive

Positive thinking has many benefits to your well-being. It helps you in every area of your life. If you have negative outlook on life, pessimistic attitude, and high stress, change your mindset and see the results of how being positive leads to a much better life.

Being positive means you take full responsibility for your life. Don’t complain about anything. Don’t blame other people for your problems or negative circumstances. We all face difficulties in our lives.

When facing any adversity, challenge, and obstacle in life, seek solution and take action to change the situation. You have the ability to create resolution to every issue, or look at any challenge differently with a new perspective. Use your creativity. Sometimes it may mean for you to let it go and keep your inner peace.

Our mistakes and failures are our lessons to learn, so we can evolve, gain knowledge, get wiser, and stop repeating these errors again. We all made them. Make light of your mistakes and failures. Even joke about them. Learn from your past and grow.

Stop worrying. Almost everything you worried about never happens. Don’t let fear debilitate you. Pursue your life dreams and purpose without fear.

Many things in the world are not within your control. Actually, you don’t have control over anything that is outside of you. The only control you have is to choose how to react wisely and calmly to all situations around you.

Back to be like a child. Children are naturally happy. They find joy in everything they see, feel, and do. They don’t worry about what people think of them. Children don’t have a care in the world. They love to laugh, play, explore, have fun, and be loved. A child is naturally free, spontaneous, curious, innocent, and energetic. Live a wonderful, joyful life like a child. Think of something to smile and laugh at every day.

Notice and be thankful for every goodness, kindness you receive each day. When you mindfully think about why you are grateful, you feel blessed, valued, and cherished. Appreciating everything you have and around you gives you more joy and better health. As the saying goes, you can’t be angry and grateful at the same time.

Be content with your life as it is. Don’t dwell on what you don’t have. Ignore any negative things other people think or say about you. Don’t let their opinions bother you. Forgive anybody who has wronged you.

Don’t judge another person. Everyone is free to live a different path in life and be accountable for it. We really know too little of the vast, complex worlds which we exist in to judge anyone. Be kind and helpful to every individual you encounter.

Be open-minded, flexible, honest, and humble. Have a good sense of humor. Respect all humanity. But don’t be afraid to politely say no to anyone. Stay away from the constantly negative, fearmongering news in the media. Read uplifting and inspiring stories to be in good spirits.

People like to be around positive people. As you become more positive, you attract more positive people and better human relationships in your life.

The universal Law of Attraction teaches that positive thoughts and actions lead to positive results and realities. By looking at all things positively and taking positive actions, you can create an amazing life full of love, peace, joy, abundance, well-being, and vitality.

Don’t give up when no positive change or outcome happens immediately. Everything takes time to develop. Be patient and everything will work out.

Grow

To grow in life means to increase and expand life. Pursue personal growth to improve your mental, emotional, and spiritual state. Being positive is a quick way to grow mentally and emotionally.

What are your passions, dreams, and interests that make you happy? Spend time going after them. If you can’t think of any, now is the time to explore new experiences and adventures. Soon you will find your interest, mission, or purpose that gives you meaning and joy.

Seek and develop lifelong close relationships with a few people who share your goals and help you along your path, rather than casual relationships with many who hinder your growth. Learn, explore, evolve, laugh, and cry together with them.

Expand life by being love and light to our fellow human beings. Be of service to others. Doing your part to make the world a better place — a world of love, peace, harmony, freedom, unity, and prosperity for all and the future generations.

Cherish your free will. Choose to become the best of you in every way. Listen to the wisdom of your heart and intuition to find all truths from within.

Always move forward but embrace your present. Change is constant. Live a life of balance and harmony between stability and change. Keep growing to live life to your fullest potential.

If you are not a spiritual person, seek spiritual growth when ready. Why do we exist? What is the origin of the universe and life? The answers to questions like these change our total outlook on life and death. Through spiritual awakening, a true, ultimate life of bliss, tranquility, and enlightenment can be achieved.

Conclusion

A simple life is a happy life. Back to basics, slow down, be positive, and grow. Your happiness does not depend on other people. It depends on your inner knowing, peace, and joy. This simple living has given me more joy and purpose every day. Use your creativity, power, focus, and actions to bring yourself a lovely, happy, peaceful, and meaningful life. Happy living to you!
